Madison, Tennessee, is an unincorporated suburb of Nashville, originally chartered as Madison Station. What is now the multi-lane highway through Madison was only a bison trace when famed Long Hunters Thomas Sharpe "Big Foot" Spencer and Kasper Mansker trod that path between Sumner Co. and the Big French Lick on the Cumberland River.
Major roads that currently run through Madison are Old Hickory Boulevard and Gallatin Pike. Briley Parkway (State Route 155) separates Madison from Nashville on the south.
Madison is also the location of the Nashville National Cemetery and home to the Amqui Station, a train depot once owned by country superstar, Johnny Cash. It is in the process of being restored to serve as a museum for the Madison community.
